How to help raise funds
Who are we?
The Garden Science Trust helps people develop their skills and potential through gardening and science. We work mainly with people with learning difficulties and other barriers to education and training.
What do we do?
We run courses to help students learn through experimentation, asking questions and practical participation. All courses cover basic horticultural know-how and help to develop independent living skills. We manage a supported volunteering programme and work experience placements at both of our sites.
Where are we?
We are based at the The Green Britain Centre and the Tumbler Hill allotment site in Swaffham, Norfolk. We have the use of a large plot and poly tunnel in the organic garden at The Green Britain Centre and have just started to develop or new allotment plot at Tumbler Hill. A new poly tunnel and outdoor classroom have been erected so that work in the garden can commence. The autumn science course is ongoing at the allotment also .
We have applied for substantial new funding for the future and are working to develop new services in 2015. A section of our plot is now devoted to raised beds and we are pleased to announce our new Weather Station which we plan to use for science study and data collection.
